Wonderful if you can handle salt
I was delighted to be able to order these, since local stores no longer carry them. The bags contain what appear to be chips of pork skin that were parboiled in salt water, then flattened under high pressure. Be sure to shake them around to distribute them throughout the bag before cooking. They expand considerably in the bag during 1:00 to 2:00 of nuking, depending on the wattage, etc., but it is a slow expansion, unlike the vigorous popping of corn. Also, the bag only expands about half as much as with popcorn. When ready, these resemble the ones available in cellophane bags that were deep-fried, but these are far tastier, fresher, AND MUCH LOWER IN FAT AND CALORIES. A whole bag is 210 calories, about 50 calories from fat. This is less than the low-fat microwave popcorn I use. One bag, however, has 50% of the daily salt limit for an adult.I especially like these sprinkled with garlic powder and dried marjoram (together). Other herbs and spices are interesting...

Yummy, fresh pork rinds!
I love it, less than two minutes in the microwave and you have hot, crispy and fresh (key here...some of the already puffed ones in stores are stale) chicharrones, or pork rinds. I found these on a health food site and couldn't believe it, so I ordered a box. They are really yummy and as long as you don't overindulge, you should enjoy them every time you are seeking something crunchy and salty (and low in carbs!).

Amazingly Good!
I do not like pre-cooked pork rinds, not even made fresh in the Mexican Carnecerias, but hubby likes them, so I decided to buy these.I was shocked to find that they were light, airy and crispy. Some bags were saltier than others, but we've cooked up about 5 so far and the majority aren't overly salty.Another reviewer mentioned watching them to figure out how long the cooking time should be. In our 1100 watt oven 40-43 seconds seems to be just right. The key is to take them out the moment the bag has fully inflated. Leave them in too long and you end up with charcoal and not enough time will make them gummy.Since I follow a fairly low carb regimen for health and weight reasons, I like the fact that these can be a perfect vehicle for guacamole and salsa without the carbs. I'm still trying to come up with more dip ideas that will go well with the flavoring.I wish they'd put out a version that didn't have seasoned salt as I'd like...

Great snack
These are an interesting and tasty alternative to microwave popcorn, well worth trying. The spicy version is not very spicy, but has a little kick. Be careful to even out the contents of the bag before microwaving and to make sure the bag rotates freely in microwaves with a turntable. Microwave time is short, about 90 seconds. They come out hot and fresh tasting. Pieces are relatively small, about an inch square. They have a less intense pork flavor than the best pork rinds, but having them hot helps compensate. Amazingly, pork rinds are becoming "diet food." They have no carbs, there is a lot of air in them that minimizes the calories for the volume, and relatively small quantities are satisfying. Anyway, it is a good story to go with a tasty snack.

Love them!
I like crunchy snacks. I'm eating low carb because my doctor advises it, and this helps fill the "popcorn spot" in my life. There are a lot of things to like about this product. It's economical. They cook up fresh whenever you want them, and they taste fresher than the ones you buy pre-popped in a bag. They don't have MSG like the Lawry's brand, and they don't come with a lot of extra packaging. If you are a low carber looking for pork rinds to cook with, these aren't heavily seasoned, so they won't influence your recipe's flavor. I like their clean flavor, but it's not hard to add seasoning if you want to experiment or you like more variety. A little bit of oil or butter will serve as the "glue" to hold your Parmesan cheese, seasoned salt, etc. There is a bit of a learning curve involved in terms of discovering how long they take in your microwave, but by now I know by feel what size handful to grab and how long to nuke them. It's worth the...

A considerably healthier alternative to deep fried pork rinds
These pork rinds fry in their own fat rather than having to be deep fried which is a lifesaver if you like pork rinds. I'm not the biggest fan, but sometimes I'm kind of hungry and these pack way more protein than the average fatty snack. The only problem is the type of fat it's fried in--melted pig fat from the skin itself! Not particularly healthy, but it's much healthier than the mexican bagged varieties.Since we don't have a microwave (oh my god, how do we get by without one?!), we toast them in a toaster oven on a baking tray for about 10-15 minutes at 375F-400F. They come out great. If you lean closer to 10 minutes, you get a crunchy-porky tasting snack, while if you go past 15, you'll get the typically super-puffed pork rind you'd expect from Cardenas. I can't comment on how well they crisp in the microwave, but I expect it should yield the same results.

Product Description

Our microwave pork rinds are produced in North Carolina. The best way to learn how to cook them is to put 1/4 cup on a paper plate or paper towel and set the microwave for 2 minutes on high. 1/4 cup of microwave pork rinds will make approximately 2 cups of puffed pork rinds when cooked. Watch them cook thru the window and stop the microwave when they quite puffing. This will be the optimum cooking time for your unit. Let them cool for 30 seconds to increase the crunchy texture before eating. Microwave Pork Rinds are safe to store at room temperature (do not refrigerate or freeze) and remain favorable for 9 months. Top to learn more

Not bad, not bad at all
Being a long time fan of the piggy skins, and having tried a "microwave bag" version of u-cook-em rinds, I wanted to try something that wasn't drowning in packaging. And I'm happy with these tasty nuggets. I find in my fairly powerful microwave that i have to run a small plate of the condensed pieces (as they're shipped) for at least 1:45 (package says try 90 seconds to start) and I don't think it's my imagination that after these are taken out of the nuke chamber, they start to contract a bit. But, when you consider that you can get a fresh, hot plate of puffy rinds in very short order, these are well worth the price. Of course you can get a trash-bag full of rinds at warehouse stores and other venues for a couple few bucks but for fresh eating at home, the only thing I'd compare these to is fryin' up a batch and these are hugely more convenient. On a 10 point scale, I'd give these a 7 but on the Zon's 5 star system, I have to go with 4.

Certified Addict in the Process!
Once I had one bag, I could not stop. I should have DOUBLED my order! These pork rinds were by far the most fresh, delicious, flavorful set I have had in a long long time. I am glad I took a chance with the variety pack. For those of us who like it hot and tangy, the spicy bbq will be right up your alley. The taste is a little bold. Hot sauce goes great but is optional. The salt and vinegar pork rinds have a very bold, distinctive scent. They may make you say "whew!!" when you first open them. Nevertheless, they have a powerful tang and are as crisp and wonderful as over. The plain pork rinds should be eaten with hot sauce, but can stand on their own just the same. The sweet and mind flavor is very quiet, very subtle. I suggest hot sauce on these as the flavoring is a tad quiet. It reminds me of the bbq flavor. Finally, the regular bbq flavor is the only one I really had a hard time tasting. Again, bring the hot sauce for this bag.All in all, It was a speedy, safe delivery...

Good low carb salty snack
My wife hates these, the very idea of them offends her deeply. "Pork skin fried in fat with salt, how is that even remotely a good idea?"She's never eaten one and I'm pretty sure she never will. She's never kissed me when I've eaten them either. So she really has no idea how good pork rinds are really. They are a wonderful snack for people who are following an Atkins diet. Almost all the calories in these little puffs of goodness are from the fat, they have less than a gram of carbs per serving, and 7-8 grams of protein per serving. Also darn tasty. They don't crunch so much as snap, they are salty and delicious with a bit of hot sauce. With all these flavors you can please lots of party guests.

great product & great service
As a lo-carb dieter, I have such a hard time finding pork rinds in the Midwest. They are a vital part of so many of my menus, I was thrilled to find this product on Amazon. The shipment arrived much faster than predicted, the rinds were fresh and flavorful, and my lo-carb pork tenderloins and "breaded" minute steaks are back on the table! Fantastic!

Great tasty snack
If you are a fan of pork rinds, Utz makes one great tasting product. These were fresh, crispy and delicious. One note, you get 4 BIG containers full of crispy goodness. One container holds quite a few days of feasting. I have found that even after being open for 5 days, the product was still crispy and good. If you have need for a good amount of snack product, you can't go wrong here.

Delicious
Keep a lid on these for two reasons:1) They tend to go a bit stale if they're exposed for a long period of time. Even the slightest exposure from a lid not secured tightly seems to compromise the flavor.2)They are TO DIE FOR when they're fresh. Yummy, crisp, and perfect with hot sauce or Tabasco sauce.

Pork Rinds - Barbeque Flavor
This order was the first order I had placed with Amazon. I was pleased with the time it took the order to arrive, and with the quality of the food. The only thing that I was disappointed with was that the advertisement promised free S&H for orders over a set price. However, after I placed my order I was notified that my order did not qualify for the free S&H offer, even though it exceeded the price minimum, because (I believe) it was a food product.I hope that by the time I want more of this item, that I can find it in a local supermarket again, as the total order was a little pricey!!

Where Can I buy Pork Rinds

Add salt, half of the onion (chopped), 2 garlic cloves (minced), 5 springs of cilantro and 2 Tablespoons of Salsa Lizano.   Add the remaining 2 Tablespoons of Salsa Lizano, bacon (chopped) or chicharrones (chopped).   But the Salsa Lizano (available at most latin supermarkets or on Amazon) and cilantro really make the dish, especially when cooking the beans. In my opinion, the 3 key ingredients are the cilantro, Salsa Lizano and pork fat.   If you give it a try, do let me know what you think of it.   And, seriously, I would not hesitate buying a bottle of Salsa Lizano if you can. I like to then add in the rice and coat it completely with the pork fat.   Depending on how heavily you salt your rice and your beans, you may need to add a bit more salt.   You can absolutely make the dish with vegetable oil, if you want to have a vegetarian/vegan dish.

I haven't eaten pork rinds since my Dad would buy them at Seven-Eleven on the way home from Vernal, UT. Pork rinds are what you eat on the way home from Vernal. He would also buy orange circus peanuts that sit in your stomach like sicky-sweet Play-Doh.
